The former fishing village is developed around its shore, offering great fish and seafood taverns, bars tourist and souvenir shops. Don't miss to visit the traditional village of Fodele (west, 7km), the birthplace of the famous painter Dominikos Theotokopoulos (El Greco). Melidoni Cave (west, 20 km) is one of the most significant on the island. Knossos, the famous Minoan Palace is only 25 km away, definitely a stop not to miss in Crete.
